As part of the implementation of a pedagogical automated production line at Unilasalle Amiens, an IGUS hardware implementation tip has been found that will save 27k euros. The application, in order, consists of:
1-Produce 3D printed parts
2- Retrieve them and place them on a hippodrome conveyor using a cobot
3- Convey them to a quality control station
4- Detach the 3d parts from their printing tray using a cobot
5- Place 3d parts in boxes to convey them to a packaging area
6- A cobot retrieves the packaged parts and palletizes them.
The solution therefore requires a cobot robot for steps 2, 4 and 5. One robot retrieves the 3D-printed parts, a second removes them from the 3D printer tray and prepares them for packaging, and a third retrieves the packaged parts and palletizes them. As the budget was limited, it was not possible to buy three robots'cobots costing 35k euros.
The trick was to mount a cobot on a 7th linear axis in order to ensure the function of two robots at two separate locations, 2.5m apart! The use of the linear axis enabled us to save on the purchase of a cobot, and therefore to pay 8k euros instead of 35k euros for the same functionality. What's more, as this is a production line for educational purposes, this solution demonstrates other types of application'possible solutions in industrial robotics.
Estimated cost reduction: € 27000
