3xD Open Source CNC – Designing and building machines based on the self-replication principle

Designing and building machines based on the self-replication principle.
The use of RJ4JP bearings in combination with elements made in 3D printing technology (FFF), in a cross mechanics system of a numerically controlled machine.

Problem:
The use of a different type of bearing brings about a number of consequences, such as:

  • noisy device operation
  • vibrations occurring during operation
  • need to maintain purity of the environment
  • requirement to lubricate and maintain

Solution:
A considerable reduction in the weight of individual components through the use of 3D printing in conjunction with igus technology, allowed high work culture, silencing the system, and increased smoothness in the movement of individual axles. This clearly affected the quality of the equipment and manufactured parts.
