I make organically shaped lamps out of fabric stretched around led profiles. The knitted fabric needs to be welded on the profiles with an ultrasonic welding machine.

The problem was I have only 2 arms and hands to hold the 3 dimensional tubes, keep the fabric in the right position, exercise pressure on the seem with an Ultrasonic welding sonotrode and activate it all at the same time.
I wanted to make a kind ultrasonic sewing machine to be able to hold the opject and pass it under the sonotrode that now moves up and down, applies the pressure, holds it for a few seconds and releases it again so I can move the seem a bit further before it comes down again, and so on.
The constuction underneath allows adjusting the distance and height to the exact location.

I mainly work alone, so the automatisation will not replace a person, nor save much time, but the work is now much more comfortable and the seem looks more regular, as the pressure and the welding time now is always exactly the same.
