Revobiom selects and directs the evolution of complete microorganism ecosystems, mimicking the natural processes of Darwinian evolution. Whether for ecology, food, energy or public health, micro-organisms are at the heart of todays major challenges. To lead this revolution, the company is developing cutting-edge millifluidic technology. This technology is based on digital millifluidics, which works on the basis of “drop trains”: a succession of hundreds of drops and millimetric air bubbles, carried by oil and manipulated in a tube (diameter 2mm). Each drop, a bioreactor (20 microliters), enables the culture and evolution of a microbial cocktail. The generation of these drops is essential to our process, and the IGUS solution enables us to achieve this reliably, repeatably and precisely. This involves using a cartesian robot arm (xyz) to move the outside of a tube (by suction) in different liquids, so as to generate the desired succession of bioreactors (drops) and gas bubbles, lubricated by oil (three-phase fluid).
